Provincial Representation

Selection

  • 1.  All Club coaches will be the liaison person
  • 2.  The coach will be responsible to inform their members of their selection, and to notify the selection committee if any of the swimmers are unavailable.

Swimmers

  • 1.  Swimmers will report to the team manager on arrival at the gala for which they have been selected.
  • 2.  Swimmers are to sit together as a team after warm-ups.
  • 3.  No swimmer is to leave the gala until the end without special permission from the team manager.  This is to ensure that swimmers are available for later events and relays in the event of one of the swimmers not having arrived.
  • 4.  Swimmers are to wear Vaal Triangle tracksuits.
  • 5.  Swimmers withdrawing from a provincial team without a valid reason will be penalized by 30 credits.
  • 6.  If swimmers participate at an Inter-Provincial gala and transport is arranged, swimmers must make use of the transport or pay for costs incurred.

General

  • 1.  Parents are to refrain from complaining to the team manager about selection.  Selection is done by a selection committee taking into account available information to ensure that the best balanced team is chosen.
  • 2.  Clubs are to enforce this code of ethics
  • 3.  Any swimmer not willing to abide by this code must notify the selection committee who will take this fact into account when making further selection.

Records

  • 1.  Provincial and age group records can only be set by registered members of the affiliated clubs.
  • 2.  Provincial records can be set in a 50m pool at:
    • 2.1  any event where the swimmer represents the Vaal Triangle
    • 2.2  all events under the jurisdiction of the Vaal Triangle, i.e. league swims, annual championships and age group galas
    • 2.3  all galas under the jurisdiction of SSA.
  • 3.  All constitutional requirements will apply.

Championship Rules

  • 1.  The age groups for the championships will be as indicated in the program.
  • 2.  A swimmer may only compete in his/her age group and in the open events
  • 3.  Any appeal against a decision must be submitted in writing together with R50,00 to the referee within 30 minutes after the decision has been taken.
  • 4.  Records can only be broken in a 50m pool.
  • 5.  The Vaal Triangle Championships is a closed gala to registered swimmers within our boundaries.
  • 6.  Entries must be submitted to the club secretaries for forwarding to the Chairperson of Swim Board: L Barnard - mwhlhbar@mweb.co.za
  • 7.  The closing date for entries is 26 November 2010.  All entries must reach the Chairperson of Swim Board by this date.  Entries received from 27 November 2010 to 30 November 2010 will be treated as late entries at a cost of R20,00 per event.  NO ENTRIES WHATSOEVER WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 30 NOVEMBER 2010.
  • 8.  Entry fee is R20,00 registration per swimmer and R10,00 per event and must be submitted together with the entry.
  • 9.  The age of the swimmer on the first day on the championships will be valid for the entire championships
  • 10.  Medals will be awarded for the first three places.
  • 11.  Participation in the championship is subject to 14 days registration with a club in the Province prior to the commencement of the championships.
  • 12.  Registration of swimmers will be accepted up to 14 November 2010 for participation in this championships.
  • 13.  Scratchings will be accepter up to one hour before the scheduled starting time of the gala.
  • 14.  No video camera recording of an event will be permitted to be used in the case of an appeal against a disqualification.
  • 15.  FINA Rules will apply.
  • 16.  A One-Start-Rule will apply throughout the entire tournament.

Championship Trophy Awards

  • 1.  The award of trophies for the best junior swimmer and best senior swimmer, will be made on the following basis:
    • 1.1  The u/9, u/11, u/13 and u/15 events qualify for the junior trophy
    • 1.2  Open events will count towards the senior trophy.
  • 2.  Five events will be taken into consideration in own age group with the best five times being used.
  • 3.  Points will be calculated with a formula using the ration of the time achieved and the provincial record time for the particular event with 100 points being awarded for a time equal to the record time, i.e. the record time divided by the actual time multiplied by 100.
